Intercom Ecostick 1816B

Water-based polyurethane adhesive from Intercom in Montespertoli, just outside Florence, made for the Italian leather goods trade. High strength, cold bonding, and it dries clear without yellowing. We bottle it here from Intercom's 10 kg bag-in-box.

What it's for

Permanent bonds on leather, including oily and waxy leathers up to 15% fat content, and on synthetic leather, fabrics, linings, card, PVC and nylon. Its low viscosity spreads thin and even, which makes it especially good for flat work — card slots, feather-edged straps, linings and turned edges. Where you're stitching afterwards, it holds the layers precisely while you sew.

How to use it

Brush a thin coat onto both surfaces and let it dry until the white turns clear, a few minutes. Bring the pieces together within 20 minutes of drying and press firmly — a roller or clamp helps. If you miss the window, warm the glue line to 60–65°C with a heat gun and press again. Full strength develops over 48 hours. Clean brushes in water while the glue is still wet.

How far it goes

At Intercom's recommended 50–150 g/m², a 250 ml bottle covers roughly 2 to 5 square metres of glued surface. That's a good many wallets.

Technical data

Solids about 52%. Density 1.06 g/cm³. Viscosity 850–1150 mPa·s. pH 6–8. Full technical and safety data sheets below.

Notes

Keep it sealed between 5 and 30°C, out of direct sun. Shelf life is 12 months from manufacture. The adhesive is damaged irreversibly if it freezes, so in winter please don't leave it on a cold doorstep — and if it arrives frozen, tell us and we'll make it right.
